Our History

Cherwell Wine and Spirits Singapore was established in 2017 by 2 Oxford PhDs who caught the wine bug and met each other while over there. We are first and foremost wine enthusiasts who can’t wait to share our knowledge and passion with everyone. We aim to nurture and foster wine appreciation and help you choose the right wine for the occasion, always.

WSET Wine Education

Cherwell Wine and Spirits is a WSET approved programme provider and we offer the WSET Level 1, 2 and 3 in Wine courses. We have over 600 alumni which have taken 1 or more wine courses with us and they form an engaging, wine loving community which we play an important role in maintaining and growing.

Service

Other than holding WSET courses, we also hold bespoke tastings, help plan your next private event and will help you build your cellar or consult on your wine lists. Since 2019, we have also been leading wine tours to renowned wine regions, focusing on visits to the best producers, dining at top restaurants with amazing food and wine lists and making memories of a lifetime on these trips. 

People

Dr. Jackie Ang is a trained pharmaceutical scientist with a PhD from the University of Oxford and a MA from the University of Cambridge. He was bitten by the wine bug during his studies in the UK and has been involved in the wine trade as a wine buyer for Wolfson College, Oxford and chief educator at Cherwell Wine and Spirits since 2014. He has taught WSET Levels 1, 2 and 3 extensively and over 500 students over the last 6 years. He was very actively involved in the University blind tasting society while at Oxford, winning the varsity match in 2016 and 2017 as well as the Pol Roger International University Blind Tasting match while being awarded best taster in the varsity match in 2017 and at the 2016 Pol Roger International Blind Tasting Match. Jackie believes that wine is about sharing experiences, learning about different cultures and is a real window to the world.

• Stage 3 WSET Master of Wine candidate (Awarded the Wines from Spain scholarship from WSET in 2017 )
• The French Wine Scholar qualification with highest honours
• Panel chair judge for the Tower Club Wine Awards in 2017 and 2019.
